Sauteed Onion Raitha



  • 1/2 chopped onion
  • 1 cup yoghurt
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp urad dhal (split black lentils)
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 tsp rai seeds
  • 1 or 2 green chilli cut lengthwise
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (optional)
  • Oil 1 ½ tsp

Heat oil in a pan and add rai, urad dal and hing. When they start crackling add chopped onions and turmeric and sauté on medium heat for 1-2 minute. Remove from the heat. Let it cool. Add salt and red chilli powder in the yoghurt and add it to sautéed onions. Mix and serve chilled.
