Ingredients
- Onion 1
- Prawns ½ kg
- Cumin seeds 1 tablespoon
- Mustard seeds 1 tablespoon
- Fenugreek seeds ½ tablespoon
- Fenugreek powder 1 pinch
- Peppercorns 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon
- Chilli powder (optional) 1 teaspoon
- Tamarind 1 small lime size ball
- Garlic 6 + 2 flakes
- Curry leaves a few
- Oil 2 tablespoons
- Salt to taste
Shell the prawns and de-vein. Wash well and keep aside. Roast cumin, mustard, methi and pepper, and grind together with turmeric powder, tamarind, onion and garlic to a fine paste.
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add 2 crushed garlic pods to it. When it turns brown add few mustard seeds. When it crackles add the ground masala. Keep frying, adding little water at a time, till the oil separates from the masala. Then add salt to taste and the washed prawns. Cook till just one boil. Sprinkle methi powder and serve hot.
