Right in the heart of the city lies an oasis of calm, the Taj Banjara and its speciality restaurant Kebab-E-Bahar, well known for its Mughlai cuisine. Now that the summer heat has ebbed a bit (at least in the evenings) Kebab-E-Bahar is hosting an interesting food festival – Brewski on the Sizzle.

While you sit back, bite into crispy Kadak Rumalis and enjoy the city lights from across Taj Banjara’s private lake and appreciate being far from the maddening crowd, enjoy the alfresco dining experience and the fragrance of freshly lit dhoops melding with the live grill and tandoor, and votive candles setting the mood while trying to stay aflame with the evening breeze.

Rather than have diners confused on what to order from their vast line-up of tandoors and grills on its al a carte menu , Kebab-E-Bahar has made it easier by presenting a select assortment on a platter. So what you get is 4 types of kebabs, a bucket of 4 beers and dessert.

I tried the non-veg sizzle set that included melt-in-the-mouth Shikampur Kebabs, Patthar ka Gosht (apparently Kebab-E-Bahar’s is the bestest in the city) that gives you that oh-so-stoned kinda feel, incredibly moist Anardhana Machli Tikkas and tender creamy Murgh Malai Tikkas (which I’m always partial to. There’s something about food colouring that turns me off). Add to that everyones perennial favourite Dhal Banjara, the recipe of which Taj Banjara’s chefs guard with their lives, and fresh off the tandoor, rumali rotis. All this downed with 4 brewskis gives you a very happy beer belly!

The vegetarian selection includes Multani Panner Tikka, Chatpati Aloo, Subz Shikampuri and Tandoor Bharwan Gobi. For dessert theres indulgent Kulfi and Khubhani ka Meetha.

Priced at Rs1299 (AI) for the non-veg platter and Rs1199 (AI) for the veg platter, you can be sure to go bottoms up, cheering all the way. Hic Hic Hurray!
The festival ends on Friday, 3rd June 2016
