An exotic smorgasbord of sushis and teppanyakis are out to tease and please at Taj Deccan Hyderabad’s Syn Asian Grill & Bar. Beginning today, the a-la-carte festival is on till 9 November 2014.
Executive Chef Sajesh Nair and his team have outdone themselves with their attention to detail and authenticity in recreating near perfect sushis, sashimis, nigiris, temakis and more.
Among the makis (sushi rolled in toasted seaweed nori and rice), the
Caterpillar Maki looked too cute to eat with its alternating rolls of marinated chopped crabsticks, avocado and eel. The Philadelphia Salmon Roll was an interesting surprise with its westernized combination of Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese which paired exceptionally well with seaweed. The Volcano Maki topped with spiced salmon and Asparagus Tempura Maki were too delicious to resist. It’s a good thing all makis come in 8-piece platings.
A generous bowl of Chirashizushi (also known as scattered sushi) of sushi rice, raw sea bass, salmon and eel with vegetables is a meal in itself. The festival also has a wide range of temaki sushis (hand-rolled cone-shaped sushi) nigiris and teppanyakis. The Trio of Mushroom and Snow Peas Teppanyaki in Kawa Yaki Sauce is an absolute must-try. The natural sweetness of tender snow peas and shitaki mushrooms works magic with the kawa yaki sauce. You could chose to have it with either Hibachi Rice or Soba Noodles.
The dessert menu is absolutely decadent to say the least and is a surprising twist to an awesome meal. Try and guess from the photos, which ones are the desserts. Here’s a clue – look out for a chocolate sushi, fruit nigiri and banana tempura teppanyaki.
